PLUMBER'S BRAIN / PVC DWV
Materials

Is PVC allowed for drain, waste, and vent piping in Kentucky?

Yes, Kentucky code lists PVC Schedule 40 and 80 as accepted DWV materials when they are produced and labeled to the required ASTM specifications.

The important catch

The answer is not simply "PVC is allowed everywhere." Kentucky code is specific about accepted materials, labels, locations, and use. The pipe and fittings must be right for the application and installed as part of a compliant drain, waste, and vent system.

That matters under slabs, in old cast-iron transitions, and anywhere a repair changes fixture openings, venting, cleanouts, or drain sizing.
