What we handle right now in Lexington

Anything where waiting until morning costs more than the after-hours fee. If it can wait, we'll tell you that on the phone and book you same-day instead.

What to do while we're on the way

Five minutes of the right moves can be the difference between a repair and a restoration job. Our dispatcher will walk you through these on the phone too.

Stop the water

  • Burst pipe or a leak you can't stop: close the house-side main shutoff. In most Lexington homes it's where the water line comes through the foundation — basement wall, crawlspace or utility closet near the front of the house. Kentucky American Water's meter is out in a pit near the sidewalk; use the valve inside the house first.
  • Leaking water heater: close the cold-water valve on top of the tank, then flip its breaker (electric) or turn the gas control to OFF. Don't drain it yet.
  • Frozen pipe: open the faucet it feeds so pressure can escape as it thaws, warm the area with a hair dryer or space heater, and never put a torch on a pipe.

Sewage and gas

  • Sewer backup: stop running water anywhere in the house — every flush and load of laundry comes back up. Stay out of the water. If it's also coming up in the street or at a manhole, it may be LFUCG's public main: call LexCall 311 as well as us.
  • Gas smell: don't flip switches, don't start the car in the garage. Get everyone out, then call Columbia Gas of Kentucky's emergency line from outside. Once the utility has shut the gas and made it safe, we repair the line and get you relit.
  • Flooded basement with a live outlet or panel under water: don't go in. Kill the main breaker only if you can reach it dry, otherwise wait for us.

How emergency dispatch works

01
You call
A real person picks up 859-408-3382, any hour. Three questions: what, where, how bad. We tell you the after-hours fee right then.
02
Crew rolls
Nearest available licensed plumber dispatches from United Court, or from Richmond HQ if every Lexington truck is out. You get a text when they're on the way.
03
Stop the damage
First job on site is making it stop — cap the line, clear the stoppage, pump the water — before we diagnose anything.
04
Flat-rate fix
You get one written price for the repair before work starts. Approve it, we fix it. The price doesn't change because it's 3am.

After-hours pricing, stated up front

Emergency plumbing has a reputation for the surprise invoice. Ours is simple: after-hours response adds a stated fee that we tell you on the phone before a truck rolls. The repair itself is flat-rate and quoted on site before any work starts, exactly the way it would be at noon on a Tuesday. If the honest answer is that your problem can wait for a same-day appointment without the fee, the dispatcher will say so.

We cover all of Lexington and Fayette County from the United Court shop, with Richmond HQ as the overflow when every Lexington truck is already out. Inside New Circle or out past Man o' War, we're coming.

Winter in Lexington

  • Central Kentucky cold snaps freeze pipes in the crawlspaces and unheated garages of older homes first — Ashland Park, Kenwick and the 1950s ring see it every January. Our frozen pipes guide covers what to do before we arrive and how to winterize so it doesn't happen again.
  • A water heater that limps through summer usually quits on the first hard freeze. If yours is over ten years old, a same-day replacement now beats an emergency call in the cold.

Emergency plumbing questions

Yes. Clog Busterz dispatches 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, holidays included, from our Lexington shop at 320 United Court Suite 6 with Richmond HQ as backup. A real person answers 859-408-3382 at 2am, not a phone tree or an answering service that takes a message.
Anything where waiting until morning costs you more than the after-hours fee: a burst or frozen pipe, water you cannot shut off, sewage backing up into the house, a leaking water heater, a flooded basement or a sump pump that quit in a storm, a main water line leak, or no water at all. A slow drain or a dripping faucet can wait for a same-day appointment, and we will tell you that on the phone.
After-hours response adds a stated fee that we tell you on the phone before a truck rolls. The repair itself is flat-rate and quoted on site before work starts, the same as it would be at noon on a Tuesday. No hourly meter, no surprise invoice.
For a leak or burst pipe, shut off the house-side main valve, usually where the water line enters the basement or crawlspace near the front foundation. For a leaking water heater, close the cold supply valve on top of the tank and turn off its breaker or gas. For a sewer backup, stop running water and stay out of it. For a frozen pipe, open the faucet and never use a torch. If you smell gas, leave the house and call Columbia Gas of Kentucky from outside before you call us.
Probably not yours alone. If water is coming up in the street, at a manhole or in several houses on the block, it is likely the public main, which is LFUCG's to fix, and LexCall 311 gets them out. If it is only your house, it is your private lateral — see our Lexington sewer line repair page for how that works. If you are not sure, we can clear the house side and camera the line to show exactly where the problem is.
Yes. We take emergency calls from tenants, landlords, property managers, restaurants and commercial buildings across Lexington. We can bill the owner or manager, text the tenant when the tech is on the way, and send photos with the invoice.
